97 FM "Deep, dark, firm ruby-garnet core with violet highlights, subtle lightening at edge. Fine cherries, nuances of plums, a subtle herbal spiciness, tobacco, and dark berry fruit in the background. Taut, a little underdeveloped, prominent tannins, a surplus of sweet extract in the finish - chocolaty, still needs some years of bottle aging, but the patience will pay off, is currently somewhat shut down." 96 RP "Offering a dense purple color, gorgeous fruit, and a sweet perfume of graphite, blackberries, blueberries, charcoal, licorice, tar, and new oak, it is a dense, full-bodied, well-endowed, beautifully layered, pure Syrah..." 96 RP "The 2006 Raven Series Syrah, a blend of 93% Syrah, 5% Grenache, and 2% Viognier that spends just under two years in French oak. Offering a dense purple color, gorgeous fruit, and a sweet perfume of graphite, blackberries, blueberries, charcoal, licorice, tar, and new oak, it is a dense, full-bodied, well-endowed, beautifully layered, pure Syrah."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
