"(Another St. Emilion wine from Jonathan Maltus, made from 80-year-old vines on rocky calcaire that used to be part of Fonroque; 70% merlot and 30% cabernet franc) Bright ruby-red. Aromas of blueberry, blackberry, minerals and licorice. Dense, primary and fresh, with juicy, fairly deep flavors of dark berries, licorice and minerals. Offers good energy in the mouth. Finishes firmly tannic and persistent. This is aging in Francois Freres Burgundy barrels. In 2004, Maltus pruned to four bunches per vine, as he did for Laforge and Le Dome; his Grand Destieux was pruned to six bunches per vine and Teyssier to eight.)"
