"The â96 Soldera Riserva Case Basse is another in a fairly long line of utterly transcendent wines from Giancarlo Soldera in vintages of modest reputation. The nose soars from the glass in a mĂ©lange of red plums, cherries, mocha, blood orange, herb tones, lovely Tuscan soil notes, vanillin oak and a delicate topnote of roses. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, laser-like in its focus and deep at the core, with some firm tannins that integrate nicely into the body of the wine with air, and excellent length and grip on the complex finish. This wine is eminently drinkable now, but will continue to improve as it further softens and blossoms."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
A powerful, age-worthy Sangiovese from the warm hills of Montalcino, requiring extended aging and prized for depth and longevity.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
