"Chappelletâs 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon Pritchard Hill has gone from strength to strength since I first tasted it seven years ago. A blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot and the rest Malbec, the wine has put on weight and offers up an absolutely stunning nose of acacia flowers, melted licorice, blueberry liqueur, and lead pencil shavings. The oak is well-integrated and has nearly disappeared. The wine is full-bodied, with a beautifully rich mouthfeel that builds incrementally and has nothing out of place. With its velvety tannins and superb purity, this wine is a gorgeous example of higher-elevation hillside Cabernet Sauvignon. Accessible now, it still has another 12-15 years of age ahead of it."
