"The complex, earth, plum, herb, cherry, and currant-scented 1998 Chateauneuf du Pape is a complete, rich, layered wine. It reveals considerable structure at present (it was just bottled), with moderate levels of tannin, a spicy, animal-like characteristic, and flavors of black cherry, kirsch liqueur, and incense."
