"The Bertagna 2006 Clos St.-Denis features fresh, invigoratingly tartly-edged cherry and red currant in alliance with roasted red meats. Polished and buoyant as well as lip-smacking in its primary fruit juiciness, this harnesses its tart element in a way that certain of the wines in this year's Bertagna collection do not. Stony, saline, and gamey notes add interest to a long finish in which a slight hint of heat (albeit from only 13.5% alcohol) is detectable. But then, were the overall effect of this wine not so delicate in an attractive sense and its fruit not so transparent, that bit of heat would doubtless have gone unnoticed. Incidentally, there are 200-250 cases annually, a pretty good-sized share of this small cru."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
