"I have been a fan of Denis Bacheletâs Gevrey V.V. for decades now, and the 2006 is yet another outstanding example of this premier cru quality bottling. The malo here finished at the end of July of 2007, and the wine was showing very well at the time of my visit in November. The bouquet is deep and complex, as it offers up notes of black cherries, cassis, bitter chocolate, grilled meats, Gevreyâs black minerality, a touch of new oak and a topnote of heavily roasted coffee bean. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and primary, with lovely cool fruit tones, a rock solid core, and excellent length and grip on the ripely tannic and very long finish. Fine juice that truly transcends village wine quality."
