"Underneath is quite a fine example of the climat and the vintage, delivering notes of plums, black cherries, chocolate, a bit of venison, mustard seed and a judicious framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is full, poised and focused, with a fine kernel of ripe fruit in the mid-palate, moderate, ripe tannins, and fine length and grip on the slightly stemmy finish. Absolutely comparable to the Engel in terms of quality, and at about the same point of evolution as well."
