"Opaque dark ruby. Superripe yet magically fresh aromas of black raspberry, currant, cracked pepper and cocoa powder. Thick, dense and supersweet, with three-dimensional, liqueur-like flavors of brambly berries and the fully developed spicy character of a great year. And yet this manages to show subtlety as well as sheer power. Impressively chewy with extract. Huge finish features powerful tannic clout and superb length. This is surely one of California most distinctive wines in the good vintages."
