"The 2009 Matetic Syrah is from clones 174 and 300 and is vinified in small 1,000 and 800 kilo vats. It has an intense, well-defined bouquet with blackberry, black tea, dark plum and a touch of rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, juicy tannins and crisp black fruit laced with burnt toast and a dash of spice towards the tightly coiled finish."

Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
