"The 2006 Syrah Santa Ynezâs medium ruby color is not much darker than some Pinot Noirs. Earthy, peppery, spicy aromas jump from the glass of this medium-bodied, elegant, well-proportioned Syrah. More restrained and polite than exuberant and dense . . . . La Sirena is the personal project of Heidi Barrett, the well-known wine consultant and wife of Chateau Montelenaâs Bo Barrett. The three Syrah cuvees range from vineyards in the southern Santa Ynez region, to the northern end of Napa Valley from the Barrett Vineyard in Calistoga. All three are different."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
