96 JG "The 1959 Steinberger Beerenauslese from the Staatesdomaine in Kloster Eberbach is a beautiful bottle of wine, offering up a deep and mature bouquet white cherries, fresh apricot, tea leaves, orange rind, beautiful spice tones, a touch of leather, lilacs, lavender, a lovely base of soil and an exotic topnote of saffron. On the palate the wine is deep, medium-full and magically complex, with lovely brightness for the vintage, outstanding focus and balance and a very, very long, pure and dancing finish of great poise and purity. Just a legendary wine from this heyday for the Staatesdomaine, the 1959 Steinberger Beerenauslese will continue to cruise along at this celestial altitude for decades to come. I cannot believe I have been fortunate enough to cross paths with this great old bottle twice in the last couple of years!"

The spiritual home of Riesling, producing wines of piercing acidity, precision and longevity across a spectrum from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Cool, steep-sloped vineyards along the Mosel and Rhine yield some of the world's most delicate, long-lived whites.
A historic Riesling region along the Rhine, producing racier, often drier wines of structure and mineral depth from south-facing slopes.
A highly aromatic white of piercing acidity and transparency to terroir, ranging from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. It ages remarkably and is the noble grape of Germany and Alsace.
