"Bright medium ruby. Expressive, nuanced nose of violet, licorice, smoked meat and gunflint. Very rich and deep, with an old-viney creaminess. Dense, sweet and meaty, like a topnotch premier cru from Gevrey-Chambertin. A great Marsannay, and the first of these '98 Marsannays that's really pliant today."
