"The 2009 Roty Charmes is also strikingly pure and refined in this vintage that tends towards more buxom wines, as it delivers a brilliant aromatic mĂŠlange of cassis, black cherries, dark chocolate, grilled meat, woodsmoke, dark soil tones and nutty new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and pure and plush on the attack, with rock solid mid-palate depth, ripe, very suave tannins and stunning length and grip on the vibrant, focused and very young finish. Again, the jury is still out on whether this or the magical 2008 Charmes will ultimately reach the highest peak, but they are two legendary vintages or Roty Charmes! This will be another stunning 2009 from Philippe Roty."

The Cote de Nuits' largest Grand Cru commune, producing powerful, structured and deeply flavored Pinot Noir built for long aging.
2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
