"Even after 11 years of bottle age this remains very closed and reserved and this particular bottle required more than 2 hours of aeration before the nose grudgingly liberated its strikingly pretty array of spicy, and still completely primary, red berry fruit and earth suffused aromas. The big-bodied yet relatively refined flavors possess terrific power and focus as well as excellent delineation on the stony and remarkably complex finish that seems to just go on and on. This impeccably well-balanced effort is years away from its peak and while I have suggested another 10 years of bottle age will suffice it may very well require another 5 to 10 after that as the supporting tannins, while ripe and well-integrated, are extremely firm. Patience will be indispensable here."
