"It had been a year since I last tasted the brilliant 1999 Comtes Rosé, and as the wine continues to improve with bottle age, I thought I should include this most recent note. This is clearly a great young bottle in the making, as it offers up a sophisticated and complex mélange of cherries, sweet cranberries, blood orange, chalky minerality, wheat toast and the signature Comtes Rosé topnote of cherry blossoms. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, crisp and very deep, with stunning authority on the attack, a rock solid core of fruit, truly stunning depth that is beginning to blossom, zesty acidity, and a very long, complex and laser-like finish. A magnificent bottle of Comtes Rosé in the making."
