"70% Monastrell and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, aged for just over two years in a combination of French and American oak . . . . Opaque purple. Explosive aromas of candied dark berries, cherry-vanilla, incense and woodsmoke, with an exotic floral topnote. Lush and creamy, offering sweet, oak-spiced blackberry and cassis flavors that are given spine by gentle acidity. Dusty tannins make a late appearance and add shape to the long, sappy, alluringly perfumed finish."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
