"There was nothing to complain about with the 2002 Merlot Alder Springs Vineyard. Gorgeously sweet red, blue, and black fruits jump from the glass along with hints of cola, earth, and new oak. Spicy, with excellent texture as well as ripeness, and a lush, up-front texture and taste, it should drink beautifully . . . . I admire what Les Behrens, Bob Hitchcock, their wives, friends, and lunatic dog are doing at their winery and cellars on the top of Spring Mountain. They are obsessed fanatics who make wine with no compromises ... obviously my kind of people."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
