"The 1995 Chardonnay Cuvée Cathleen, a selection of the best barrels made by Steve Kistler and Mark Bixler, was tightly knit when I tasted it. Nevertheless, the wine revealed spectacular concentration and potential. The wonderful balance between its power, acidity, alcohol, and extract is flawless. Fortunate tasters will appreciate how the wine cascades over the palate with super-concentrated fruit, infused with some high quality French oak. On the back of the palate, the wine reveals explosive richness and length. The finish lasts for 30-35 seconds. This is another large-scaled, tightly-knit, Burgundian-styled Chardonnay that needs . . . years of cellaring . . . . It was bottled without fining or filtration. Can anyone think of another winery that produces so many profound Chardonnays?"
