"The 2008 has completely shut down, no doubt because of its striking minerality. Coming in at 14.5% natural alcohol and cropped at 21 hectoliters per hectare, it is extremely concentrated, tannic and broodingly backward. On each of the three occasions I tasted it the wine was difficult to penetrate because of its tannic structure. Nevertheless, there is plenty of weight, purity, texture and length. This 2008 is only for patient connoisseurs who are willing to give it 7-8 years of bottle age. It should last for 25+ years and may possibly eclipse the 2010."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
