"Nicolas Rossignol, who directs this 20+ ha domaine with its incredible range of wines from Volnay, noted that he was ?much more relaxed for the harvest and vinification of the 2010 vintage because once I changed facilities I finally had the working space to work properly. In the old facility, we got what needed to be done done but it was always a hassle and everything took more time and effort than it should have. Now, we can do everything with a minimum of fuss and muss. As to the 2010 vintage, I love it as it is almost as ripe as the 2009 vintage but with the freshness and acidity of 2008. I began picking on the 23rd of September and while the fruit was impeccably clean, there wasn?t much of it as my yields were off fully 40%. The phenolics were very ripe so I used a lot of whole clusters in the vinifications but due to the fact that the grapes didn?t really have thick skins, I didn?t push the extractions. In fact, I decided to use more of an infusion approach so as to extract the finest tannins. The potential alcohols were excellent and nothing was chaptalized. In fact, I haven?t chaptalized anything since 2002 though that streak was broken in 2011 as sugars were on the low side. I?m happy that I chose to take a minimalist approach with the extraction as the supporting tannins in the 2010s are extremely fine. Overall, 2010 is a terrific vintage that produced classic burgundies of finesse and elegance that should age effortlessly.? As the scores and comments confirm, the Rossignol has once again produced several truly stunning wines and his ?10s are among the very best wines that I sampled in the CĂ´te de Beaune. There are several wines . . . that are absolutely not to be missed if you enjoy old school burgundy where the tannins are sophisticated. Rossignol noted that his 2010s were bottled in January and February of 2012."
