94 JG "The 2009 Corton 'Bressandes' from Laurent Ponsot is stunning and is destined to be an “instant classic” in the Ponsot lineup. The wine soars from the glass in a ripe and pure nose of black cherries, plums, game, chocolate and a beautiful base of stony minerality. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very sappy, with a great core of fruit, impeccable focus and balance, lovely complexity and outstanding backend stoniness on the ripely tannic and really palate-staining finish. This has some nice, ripe tannins that will need to be resolved, and it should be at its peak within seven or eight years. A dynamite bottle."

Aloxe-Corton is a village AOC in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, ringing the Corton hill and holding Premier Cru vineyards; it produces mostly firm, structured, earthy Pinot Noir reds built for medium-term aging.
2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
