96 WA ". . . the 2009 Corton-Charlemagne is in absolutely stunning form. While it does not possess the heart-stopping minerality of say, Coche-Dury, the explosion of aromas on the nose is pulsating â wet limestone, acacia, white peach and citrus lemon, all with terrific delineation. The palate does not disappoint, with fabulous balance, a real sense of drive, and a crescendo of flavors in the mouth matched by perfectly judged acidity and an extraordinarily long tail. To be frank, this is one of the best Corton-Charlemagnes I have encountered in a long time."

Corton-Charlemagne is a white Grand Cru on the Corton hill in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, producing rich, powerful and mineral Chardonnay whites of great structure, aromatic complexity and remarkable aging potential.
2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
The world's most versatile white grape, producing everything from steely Chablis to rich, oaked whites. Its neutrality makes it a mirror of terroir and winemaking, and the foundation of white Burgundy and Champagne.
