". . . likely to improve over the next several years. It really is still an impressively fresh and complex example of the vintage, as it offers up a powerful bouquet of roasted cherries, dark chocolate, a bit of charred wood, herb tones, incipient notes of spiced meats, a fine base of soil and just the faintest undercurrent of prune. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, deep and young, with a fine core of fruit, ripe tannins, respectable acidity and good length and grip on the still fairly primary, but nicely balanced finish. I like the length and grip here very much . . . . it should prove to be a very exciting example of the vintage. At the very least this will be a very good bottle, and it may be even better than that with more bottle age."
