"The beautifully situated premier cru of Clos de la Perrière (located right across from the entrance to the Château de Clos Vougeot) is a monopole of Domaine Bertagna, and the 2009 is the finest of this very strong range of Vougeot premier crus. The deep, young and classy nose offers up scents of cherries, pomegranate, woodsmoke, coffee, fresh herbs and a generous base of smoky new oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and suave on the attack, with a fine core of fruit, lovely soil signature, moderate tannins and very good length and grip on the gently chewy finish. This wine . . . should prove to be a lovely bottle with a bit of patience."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
