"For some reason, I do not cross paths with too many examples of the premier cru of La Perrière in the Gevrey cellars that I visit regularly, but this is a lovely premier cru situated just below Mazis-Chambertin on the slope. Laurent Lignier’s 2010 version is really superb, offering up a very refined and red fruity bouquet of cherries, blood orange, vinesmoke, raw cocoa, black minerality and a deft touch of new wood. On the palate the wine is deep, fullish, pure and very velvety on the attack, with a fine core of sappy fruit, a strong signature of soil, suave tannins and a very long, classy finish. A fine, fine bottle."
