"Like all of the 1997 Mugneret wines, the Echézeaux is truly and outstanding example of the vintage. The nose is deep and pure, delivering a mélange of cherries, woodsmoke, a bit of stems, herb tones, lovely soil nuances, allspice and a topnote of violets. On the palate the wine is medium-full, bright and tangy, with great shape for a 1997. The wine is solid right to the core, and displays excellent purity and depth at the core, and fine length and bounce on the finish. A lovely ’97 that is tasty now, but should drink even better with a couple more years of bottle age to allow further complexity to emerge."
