"The vines for the village Meursault chez Lafon come from vines in Ormeau and En La Barre, as well as one other lieu Ă dit, and it has been consistently excellent for the last four or five vintages that I have tasted. The vineyards are vinified separately, and the assemblage was done in June. Typically this is a very elegant, almost silky middleweight that offers up glorious complexity right out of the blocks, but in 2005 the broader shoulders of the vintage have produced an even more serious and powerful bottle of AC Meursault. The bouquet is deep and classy, as it offers up notes of apple, pears, hazelnuts, a bit of passion fruit, flowers and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is medium-full, fresh and focused, with a fine core of fruit, and great cut and grip on the long, and powerful backend. A very, very high class village wine that I would give a couple of years in bottle to allow it to fully develop."
