"Good full red. Lovely precision to the aromas of cherry and minerals. Sweet on entry, then high-pitched and penetrating in the middle palate, with a strong acid/tannin spine providing energy and support. This wonderfully silky and perfumed wine is completely different in texture from the Gaiun. Perhaps best today on the rising, palate-staining finish, which features a whiplash of cherry, raspberry and orange peel flavors and a vibrant mineral dust quality. Reminded me of an Anne Gros Clos Vougeot. One of the purest and most perfumed wines I tasted on my tour."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
In Italy's northwest, Piedmont is home to Nebbiolo, the grape behind the powerful, perfumed and long-lived reds of Barolo and Barbaresco. Fog-shrouded hills and calcareous soils define its greatest wines.
Produces Nebbiolo of slightly more elegance and approachability than neighboring Barolo, offering perfume, finesse and firm structure.
Produces pale but powerfully tannic and perfumed reds with tar, rose and cherry notes. The grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco, it is among the most age-worthy in the world.
