"From vines that were planted in 1910. This is both more elegant and more expressive, which is quite unusual in my experience as there is usually quite a bit of reticence. The lightly spiced and distinctly floral and earthy red currant and humus suffused aromas give way to rich, round and admirably concentrated flavors that display an overt muscularity as well as an abundance of dry extract that stains the palate and pushes the firm tannic spine to the background on the explosively long and overtly austere finish. Like the 2010 VV, this is a genuinely remarkable effort and it should be on your short list of '09s to potentially acquire as it's truly breathtaking."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
2009 in Burgundy was warm and sunny, producing ripe, rich and generous reds of hedonistic charm and supple tannins; the whites are opulent but can lack acidity, making them best enjoyed relatively young.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
