"A selection of the best barrels results in the wine called Clew. This is a big, powerful wine, particularly the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Clew, which comes from Coombsville. One hundred-seventy cases were made of this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 100% French oak, this is no wimpy wine at 15.5% alcohol. It is super-concentrated, with a stunning nose of graphite, licorice and forest floor followed by off-the-charts richness, a skyscraper-like texture, and massive blueberry and blackberry fruit in addition to some loamy soil undertones. This stunner is still incredibly youthful and primary but promises to evolve . . . and last three decades or more . . . . These are very small cuvées ranging from 150-250 cases from proprietor Gerry McSharry, who uses the services of Mark Herold."
