"The domaine’s Charmes-Chambertin has turned out beautifully in 2013, as it offers up a nicely reserved and very classy aromatic constellation of red and black cherries, venison, coffee mustard seed, woodsmoke, a touch of new wood and an absolutely superb base of soil tones. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and rock solid at the core, with great balance, suave, ripe tannins and excellent length and grip on the nascently complex and very pure finish. A great bottle of Charmes in the making."

2013 in Burgundy was a difficult, cool and hail-hit year with a late harvest and small crop; the wines are fresh, lean and classically styled, with bright acidity and firm structure, especially the reds.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
