"The 1985 Solaia continues to evolve at a quicker pace than the 1985 Sassicaia. A huge nose of olives, toast, cedar, and cassis offers considerable enjoyment. In the mouth, this dark ruby/purple-colored, opulent wine exhibits a rich, medium to full-bodied, chewy texture, decent acidity, and well-integrated flavors of smoky new oak. The finish is supple and long as the tannins have quickly melted away."

The heartland of Sangiovese, producing Chianti Classico, Brunello di Montalcino and the Cabernet-influenced 'Super Tuscans' of the coast. Its wines balance bright acidity, savory structure and cellar-worthiness.
