"As Laurent Ponsot related when I tasted the inaugural vintage of 2009 of this wine back in the winter of 2010, it is bottled under the name of 'Cuvée Baurdon' to protect the identity of the proprietor from which the grapes are purchased. The 2011 had just been racked the week before our visit, but was showing quite well despite this, offering up a deep and sappy nose of black cherries, dark berries, chocolate, some resinous tones and a deep base of soil. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, long and very sappy at the core, with good acids, ripe tannins and very fine length and grip. Today the wine is quite fruit-driven in personality, but I am sure that is simply a result of its recent racking and more of its soil personality will come to the fore as it bounces back from the racking."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
Corton is the Cote de Beaune's principal red Grand Cru, spanning the Corton hill across Aloxe-Corton and neighbors, producing powerful, tannic and structured Pinot Noir reds needing time to soften and unfold.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
