"Showing every bit as well from bottle as from barrel, the 2010 Kongsgaard Syrah Hudson Vineyard is brilliant! Possessing a deep ruby/purple color, it offers up a complex, gamey array of smoked black fruits, toast, ash, chocolate, tobacco, and dry-aged beef that gives way to a full-bodied, impeccably put together palate. Decadent, rich, and thrillingly textured, this knockout Napa Valley Syrah stays light and clean, with a weightless feel, solid underlying structure, and a blockbuster finish. Up there with the â07 and borderline perfection, this profound effort needs another 2-3 years of bottle age, and will evolve gracefully . . ."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
