"The two blockbusters are proprietary reds, although certainly dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2012 Obsidian Proprietary Red is a 580-case blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Cabernet Franc and the rest Petit Verdot, Malbec and Merlot. A complex nose of spring flowers, white chocolate, black cherry and cassis as well as touches of blackberry and espresso is followed by a multi-layered wine with stunning concentration, seductive and sexy notes of low acidity, plenty of glycerin and sweet tannin. This is a full-bodied beauty that was aged 22 months in 100% French oak."

California's most prestigious wine region, celebrated worldwide for opulent, structured Cabernet Sauvignon. Diverse soils and mountain-to-valley-floor sites yield wines of remarkable ripeness, power and longevity.
A high-elevation Napa AVA above the fog line, producing intensely concentrated, firmly structured mountain Cabernet built for long aging.
An aromatic red grape lending perfume, red fruit and a leafy, savory edge. It thrives in the Loire and as a key blending partner in Bordeaux, especially Saint-Emilion.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
Yields dark, plush reds with ripe black fruit and soft tannins. A traditional Bordeaux blender, it found its greatest fame in Argentina.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
A deeply colored, tannic Bordeaux blending grape adding color, structure and floral, spicy complexity in small proportions.
