"According to Claude de Nicolay, their parcels in Île de Vergelesses “were just touched by the hail” and the damage was very minimal, so they were able to use forty percent whole clusters for this wine in 2014. The wine has turned out beautifully and is very refined in this vintage, wafting from the glass in a blend of cherries, red currants, stony soil tones, venison, a touch of cinnamon and a bit of bonfire in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and focused beautifully, with a fine core, lovely, chewy and ripe tannins and a long, mineral-driven finish. This has really turned out beautifully . . ."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
2014 in Burgundy is a benchmark white vintage, tense, fresh and mineral, though Cote de Beaune hail cut yields; the reds are balanced and classically proportioned, with good freshness and medium-term aging potential.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
