"When I taste Theo Haart’s wines, I quickly realize just why the Goldtröpfchen vineyard was once among the most prized few vineyards in all of Germany- there is an elegance here tied to just stunningly beautiful fruit tones that are not replicated anywhere else on the Mosel. The nose on the 2002 Spätlese is lovely, offering up classic Goldtröpfchen notes of sweet peaches, a bit of honeydew melon, fresh corn, spring flowers and a lovely underpinning of slate. On the palate the wine is medium-full, crisp and beautifully focused, with fine shape and snap on the long, peachy and slatey finish. This is a superb follow-up to the stunning 2001 Haart Spätlese."
