"A generically-labeled bottling, the 2004 Riesling Kabinett is in fact from the Schlossbockelheimer Felsenberg. This fruit was almost the last-picked of the season, from sparely-bearing vines, yet for reasons Frohlich cannot fathom, was not especially high in must weight. The wine exudes black currant, honey, toasted pistachio and shrimp shell aromas. In the mouth, it is overtly sweet but that does not cover over its black fruit, smoked nut and herb complexities, and the finish is bright, saline, citric and well balanced. This wine’s intense minerality, bright citricity, delicate weight, and faintly (if only youthfully) sweet-sour cast all suggest a top wine from a “lesser,” marginally ripe vintage, such as we have not witnessed since 1987. Once this wine settles in and over time the sugars polymerize, I predict both short- and long-term improvement. That we have here an excellent value as is, goes without saying."

The spiritual home of Riesling, producing wines of piercing acidity, precision and longevity across a spectrum from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. Cool, steep-sloped vineyards along the Mosel and Rhine yield some of the world's most delicate, long-lived whites.
A highly aromatic white of piercing acidity and transparency to terroir, ranging from bone-dry to lusciously sweet. It ages remarkably and is the noble grape of Germany and Alsace.
