"Deep ruby color. Rich, dense aromas of chocolate and espresso seem a bit clenched and bound up, with fruit currently in the background. A bit youthfully undifferentiated today, but shows concentrated, dense, sweet flavors of black raspberry, cassis and bitter chocolate, along with a pronounced mocha note. Finishes broad and solid, with serious heft and weight. This is painfully young right now but should reward patience. A second bottle of this wine, tasted with cellarmaster James Cahill, showed brighter red fruits on the nose and possessed similar depth and power."
