"The Grenache-based 2011 Flux wraps around the palate with layers of red fruit, crushed flowers, sweet tobacco and high-toned floral notes. The 2011 is rich, layered and totally sexy, with slightly firm tannins that could use another few months in bottle to soften. With time in the glass the Syrah and Mourvedre become more prominent, adding layers of darkness and richness that add to the wine's appeal. The 2011 is 68% Grenache, 17% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre. Herold uses an unusual technique here in that he air-dries a portion of the stems before putting them into the tanks."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
A warm-climate red giving generous, high-alcohol wines of red fruit and spice. It anchors southern Rhone blends and old-vine wines in Spain and Australia.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
