"CVNE’s Viña Real Gran Reserva is a fantastic young bottle of Rioja, coming in with perfectly measure ripeness and great purity and nascent complexity. The outstanding bouquet is a constellation of dark berries, black cherries, cigar wrapper, tobacco ash, dark soil tones, a bit of coffee bean and a nice touch of toasted coconut in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and very, very pure on the attack, with a rock solid core, suave, seamless tannins and exceptional focus and grip on the very, very long, refined finish. This is so beautifully balanced that it is already a great glass of wine, but it is clearly still a puppy and will only grow exponentially with further bottle age. Great juice."

Spain has the largest area under vine of any country and a deep tradition of oak-aged reds. Tempranillo-based wines from Rioja and Ribera del Duero, alongside Priorat's Garnacha and Carinena, anchor its fine-wine reputation.
Spain's noble red grape, producing structured, savory wines of red fruit and leather that respond beautifully to oak aging in Rioja and Ribera del Duero.
