". . . I am happy to report that I have had a couple of excellent bottles of this wine in recent times. 1975 is a great, great vintage in Pomerol and very good in St. Ămilion, and the â75 Magdelaine is every bit as fine as one would expect from the combination of a good year and a top flight estate. The bouquet is excellent, wafting from the glass in a mix of black cherries, red plums, cigar smoke, dark soil tones, nutskin and a topnote of menthol. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and one of the last âold schoolâ vintages of Magdelaine in terms of texture, which is shares with several of its Pomerol counterparts in 1975 and which was almost completely gone from the Bordeaux wine scene by the time the next great Right Bank vintage came along in 1982. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and Ă point, with a fine core of fruit, very good focus and balance and a long, complex finish that closes with still a touch of tannin. A fine, fine vintage of Magdelaine that vies (along with the 1971) as the second best vintage at the property in this decade, behind the celestial 1970."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
The world's largest fine-wine region, built around blends of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Divided by the Gironde estuary into the structured Left Bank and the plush, Merlot-led Right Bank, it is the historic benchmark for age-worthy claret and sweet Sauternes.
An aromatic red grape lending perfume, red fruit and a leafy, savory edge. It thrives in the Loire and as a key blending partner in Bordeaux, especially Saint-Emilion.
Produces plush, supple, fruit-forward reds with plum and chocolate notes. Softer and earlier-maturing than Cabernet, it adds flesh and roundness to blends and stars in Right Bank Bordeaux.
