"Here is a savory and hearty red wine from central Italy. The 2008 Torgiano Rosso Riserva Rubesco Vigna Monticchio is endowed with dark fruit layers of dried and purple fruit like plum and black currant. Dig deep and you get very slight tones of wet earth and Pecorino cheese rind that add to the distinctive signature of this beautiful wine from Umbria. The bouquet is fluid and ever in motion. Lungarotti has delivered a very nice surprise with this 80-20 Sangiovese and Canaiolo blend."

Italy grows more indigenous grape varieties than any other country and produces wine in all 20 of its regions. From Piedmont's Nebbiolo to Tuscany's Sangiovese, its finest wines pair structure and bright acidity with a strong sense of place.
Tuscany's signature red, giving high-acid, savory wines of sour cherry, herbs and firm tannin. It is the backbone of Chianti, Brunello and many Super Tuscans.
