"The 2014 Tsundere is an interesting blend of 51% Syrah, 31% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 18% Tannat that spent 18 months in 228- and 300-liter barrels before being bottled unfined and unfiltered. I remember tasting the first vintage of this cuvĂ©e, which has always been a bruiser, but in 2014 it shows another level of polish and finesse, with lots of black and blue fruits, crushed violets, earth and hints of leafy herbs aromas and flavors. Deep, rich, and concentrated, with building tannin, this full-bodied powerhouse is going to have a long life. Another estate Iâve raved about for years is Viquel and Scott Hawleyâs Torrin Vineyard. These are unquestionably big, rich, Paso-styled wines, but they continue to get more and more elegance into their wines, while not sacrificing texture and richness. These latest 2014s are sensational. In addition, while I couldnât taste the wines, theyâve also started a new Lagom label focused on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay."

The fourth-largest wine producer in the world, led by California. American fine wine is defined by ripe, expressive fruit and a spirit of innovation, with Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon among the most sought-after wines globally.
The world's most planted premium red grape, yielding deeply colored, tannic and structured wines with cassis, cedar and graphite notes. Firm tannins and acidity make it exceptionally age-worthy, whether as a varietal or the backbone of a Bordeaux blend.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
