"My favorite in the lineup, the 2011 St. Chinian Les Schistes (55% Grenache, 40% Syrah and the balance Carignan) has beautiful richness and depth, with mineral-drenched, ripe black cherry and pit fruits, scorched earth, licorice, leather and resinous herb qualities as well as a medium to full-bodied, textured and concentrated profile on the palate. Staying juicy and clean on the finish, with outstanding persistence, it’s a solid bottle of wine . . ."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
