"The parcel of Vosne âChaumesâ that Jean-Marie Fourrier buys the production from is planted to seventy year-old vines and the wine has turned out very well indeed in the 2013 vintage. The bouquet wafts from the glass in an excellent blend of black cherries, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, fresh herbs, espresso and a touch of the venison to come. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, complex and youthfully chewy, with a fien core of fruit, lovely soil inflection and a long, ripely tannic and still fairly primary finish. This wine is beautifully balanced, but the texture of the tannins out of the blocks is not quite as refined as in the top premier crus from the domaineâs own vines. That said, this is a lovely example of Chaumes."

The world's most influential fine-wine producer and the benchmark for Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne and the Rhone. Its appellation (AOC) system codifies geography, grape and method, and its wines set the global standard for age-worthiness and terroir expression.
Produces the world's most revered Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from a mosaic of tiny, terroir-defined climats. Its hierarchy of village, Premier Cru and Grand Cru vineyards makes site the ultimate expression of quality.
Arguably Burgundy's most exalted village, home to legendary Grand Crus. Its Pinot Noir is renowned for perfume, silk and sublime complexity.
2013 in Burgundy was a difficult, cool and hail-hit year with a late harvest and small crop; the wines are fresh, lean and classically styled, with bright acidity and firm structure, especially the reds.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
