"The 1998 Shiraz Block 3 is a spectacularly full-bodied, black/purple-colored effort with notes of pepper, smoky licorice candy, cassis, blackberries, and earth. It possesses terrific fruit, massive body, sweet tannin, and nicely integrated alcohol as well as wood. At $25.00, this is one of the great wine bargains in the marketplace today . . . . Readers punch-drunk from some of the excessively high prices for New World wines should definitely check out Scarpantoni."

Renowned for powerful, richly fruited Shiraz, most famously from the Barossa Valley, alongside age-worthy Cabernet and cool-climate whites. A warm climate and old, ungrafted vines produce wines of generosity and depth.
Syrah (Shiraz) produces dark, powerful reds with black fruit, pepper and smoked-meat notes. It yields elegant, perfumed wines in the northern Rhone and bold, rich styles in Australia.
