The color is still solid ruby with only the barest glimmer of bricking. An extremely subtle background note of volatile acidity adds complexity to what may be the most complete nose of the so-called lesser vintages as it communicates clearly and unmistakably the character of the flavors that will follow, which is to say round, ripe and very powerful full-bodied flavors that are wrapped in a touch of toasty oak and culminate in a sappy, mouth coating and strikingly long finish. This is still a big wine that possesses an almost robust if not rustic quality and while this has reached its peak, it should hold here for years.
