"Like the Le Croix Moines this is overtly sauvage with its gamy aromas of dark pinot fruit, earth, forest floor and underbrush that are trimmed in a whiff of menthol. There is outstanding volume and mid-palate concentration to the broad-shouldered flavors that brim with dry extract while delivering excellent power and length. This velvety yet quite serious effort should reward extended cellaring and is going to need it."

Aloxe-Corton is a village AOC in Burgundy's Cote de Beaune, ringing the Corton hill and holding Premier Cru vineyards; it produces mostly firm, structured, earthy Pinot Noir reds built for medium-term aging.
2014 in Burgundy is a benchmark white vintage, tense, fresh and mineral, though Cote de Beaune hail cut yields; the reds are balanced and classically proportioned, with good freshness and medium-term aging potential.
A thin-skinned, terroir-sensitive red producing perfumed, silky and elegant wines of red-berry fruit and earthy complexity. It reaches its apogee in Burgundy.
